Terms of Service

Article 1. Purpose

These Terms define the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of AI Edu Studio (the “Company”) and users in connection with the English Friends children's English learning service, including its website and mobile apps (the “Service”).

Article 2. Definitions

  • “User” means a child member and their legal guardian who use the Service under these Terms.
  • “Child member” means a user under 14 who creates an account and uses the Service with legal guardian consent.
  • “Parent dashboard” means the web service that allows legal guardians to view a child member's learning progress and manage data (access, export, and deletion).
  • “Guest trial” means the feature that lets users try the Service for a limited time (3 minutes) without creating an account.

Article 3. Effectiveness and Changes to These Terms

  • These Terms take effect when posted in the Service or communicated through other means.
  • The Company may amend these Terms within the limits of applicable laws, including Korea's Act on the Regulation of Terms and Conditions. The effective date and reasons for amendments will be announced in the Service or by email at least 7 days in advance (30 days for changes unfavorable to users).
  • Users who do not agree to amended Terms may terminate their agreement by closing their account. Continued use after the announced effective date is considered acceptance of the amended Terms.

Article 4. Formation of the Agreement and Legal Guardian Consent

  • The agreement is formed when the user agrees to these Terms and the Privacy Policy, applies to create an account, and the Company accepts the application.
  • Creating an account for a child under 14 requires legal guardian consent. Consent is verified using a one-time code sent to the legal guardian's email. Features that generate learning data are restricted until consent is verified.
  • Account details (sign-in email and legal guardian email) must be accurate and updated without delay when they change. Users are responsible for disadvantages resulting from inaccurate information.

Article 5. Service Features, Changes, and Interruptions

  • The Service includes real-time voice conversations with AI characters, role-play conversations, interactive stories, pronunciation assessments, and learning reports through the parent dashboard, and is currently free. Paid features will be announced in advance and require separate consent.
  • The Company may change all or part of the Service to improve its quality. Significant changes will be announced in advance.
  • The Company may temporarily suspend the Service for substantial operational reasons, including maintenance, capacity upgrades or replacements, or communication failures. Planned interruptions will be announced in advance. Where unavoidable circumstances prevent advance notice, notice may be given afterward.

Article 6. User Obligations

Users must not engage in the following activities.

  • Stealing or infringing on another person's account or personal information
  • Disrupting the Service or placing an unreasonable load on systems, including bulk requests using automated tools
  • Reverse engineering, crawling, or abusing the Service for purposes other than learning
  • Other conduct that violates applicable laws or these Terms

Article 7. Restrictions on Use

If a user violates Article 6, the Company may restrict access or terminate the agreement after prior notice. Where there is an urgent risk to Service operations, the Company may act first and notify the user afterward. Users may appeal through the contact details in Article 11. If the appeal is found valid, the Company will promptly restore access.

Article 8. Intellectual Property

  • Intellectual property rights in the Service and its components, including characters, story content, designs, and software, belong to the Company or the rightful owners.
  • Without the Company's prior permission, users may not reproduce, transmit, publish, distribute, broadcast, or otherwise use content obtained through the Service for commercial purposes.
  • Rights to a child member's learning records, including conversations and pronunciation recordings, belong to the user. The Company processes these records only for the purposes and periods specified in the Privacy Policy.

Article 9. Notice About AI-generated Content

  • Conversations and feedback are generated in real time by artificial intelligence and provided as learning aids. The Company does not guarantee their accuracy, completeness, or any particular learning outcome.
  • The Company applies safeguards designed for children to reduce inappropriate content. However, AI may produce unexpected responses. Please report inappropriate responses using the contact details in Article 11, and the Company will act promptly.

Article 10. Damages and Limitations of Liability

  • If the Company or a user violates these Terms and causes damage to the other party, the party responsible for the violation must compensate the other party.
  • The Company is not liable for damage caused by circumstances beyond its control, including natural disasters or outages of third-party telecommunications or cloud services. However, liability for damage caused by the Company's intentional misconduct or gross negligence is governed by applicable law.
  • The Service is currently free. The Company assumes no liability related to use of the free Service unless it has acted intentionally or with gross negligence.
